Citycycle launch in King George Square

Finally, the revolution has started! Good on the council I say. Will be interesting to see how it all works out. I’m fairly certain that in the medium to long term it will all lead to better facilities for all cyclists. I will watch the learning curve with great interest.

They have it backwards… you have to build the infrastructure so people feel safe. When they feel safe they will ride not the other way around. This will be seriously underutilised…

What we’ve done in this country to make cycling ’safe’ is to promote safety (which means it is seen as ‘dangerous’, when it never was), encourage ’safe’ behaviour (helmets, fluoro crap) and then spend more money on cars and roads. Total BS.

It will be a lemon… at least they got the colour right.

Agree :) This is a great development for Brisbane and seeing the bikes finally installed in some of the stations is exciting.

Lets hope that we have a substantial take up and increasing demand by the public for more bikes and stations around the city.

There will be issues but as a community I hope we can resolve them so CityCycle becomes a huge success and is another part of creating a more people orientated city.
